Dental Implant Cost in Pune: What Drives the Price

Why implant quotes in Pune vary so much: the number of teeth, scans, bone grafting, the crown and your health. What to ask before you compare prices.

“How much does an implant cost?” is usually the first question patients in Pune ask, and it is a fair one. The honest answer is that it depends on your mouth. Two people who both say “I need one implant” can have very different treatment, and so very different quotes. This guide explains what drives the price, so you can understand a quote and compare like with like.

We do not publish a single implant price, because a number given before an examination is often wrong for the person reading it. Instead, we explain the full cost once we have examined you and seen your scan. You can read about the treatment itself on our dental implants page.

What you are paying for

A dental implant is not one item. It is a short course of treatment with several parts, and a quote may include some or all of them:

  • Examination and scan. Your dentist checks your gums, the teeth nearby and the bone where the implant will go. A scan shows the height and width of the bone.
  • The implant itself. A small titanium post placed in the jawbone under local anaesthetic (NHS).
  • The connecting part (abutment). This joins the implant to the tooth on top.
  • The crown, bridge or denture on top. This is the part you see and chew with, made to match your other teeth.
  • Healing and review visits. Checks while the bone heals around the implant, and after the crown is fitted.

When you compare two quotes, check that both include the same parts. A lower figure that leaves out the scan or the crown is not really lower.

The main things that change the cost

1. How many teeth, and what goes on top

One missing tooth usually needs one implant and one crown. Several missing teeth in a row can sometimes be replaced with two implants holding a bridge, rather than one implant per tooth. Where all the teeth in a jaw are missing, implants can hold a full bridge or steady a denture. Each of these is a different amount of work, materials and laboratory time.

2. The state of the bone

An implant needs enough healthy bone to hold it. After a tooth is lost, the bone in that area slowly shrinks. If there is not enough, a bone graft may be needed first to build the area up. Grafting adds a step, materials and sometimes extra healing time, so it adds to the cost. Your scan shows whether you need it.

3. Whether a tooth has to come out first

If a damaged tooth is still in place, it has to be removed. Sometimes the implant can be placed in the same visit (an immediate implant), when the bone and gums allow. Other times the socket is left to heal first. Your dentist decides this from your examination and scan.

4. Your gums and general health

Gum disease is treated before implant work starts, because implants need healthy gums around them. Large reviews have found that implants fail more often in smokers (Mustapha et al., 2022) and in people with diabetes (Al Ansari et al., 2022). Neither rules an implant out, but both are part of an honest discussion about cost, because a failed implant has to be redone.

5. The type of crown

Crowns on implants are made in different materials. The choice depends on where the tooth is (front teeth need to look natural; back teeth take more chewing force) and on your bite. Your dentist explains the options that suit you, and what each costs.

Why the cheapest quote is not always the cheapest

Implants can last a long time. A 2019 review of long-term studies found that about 96 in 100 implants were still in place after ten years (Howe et al., 2019). That result depends on careful planning, healthy gums, a well-fitting crown and good cleaning at home. A plan that skips the scan, or places an implant where the bone is too thin, can cost more in the end.

So when you compare, look beyond the total. Ask how the treatment is planned, who places the implant, what happens at review visits, and what is done if something needs adjusting later.

Questions to ask before you agree to a quote

  1. What exactly is included: the scan, the implant, the abutment, the crown and the follow-up visits?
  2. Do I need a bone graft or any gum treatment first? Is that in this figure?
  3. How many visits will it take, and over how many months?
  4. What material will the crown be, and why that one for this tooth?
  5. What are the other options for my gap, such as a bridge or a partial denture, and what would they cost?
  6. Is the cost given to me in writing before treatment starts?

A good dental team will be happy to answer all of these. If you are weighing an implant against other ways to fill a gap, our guide Missing a tooth? Implant, bridge or partial denture compares them side by side.

Paying for treatment

Implant treatment is usually spread over a few months, from placing the implant to fitting the crown, because the bone needs time to heal around it. At Vinaykia Dental Care we explain the full cost at the planning stage, so there are no surprises later. Ask us about the payment options available when you book.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cost of a dental implant in Pune?

+

It depends on how many teeth are being replaced, what goes on top of the implant, whether a bone graft is needed and the type of crown. We explain the full cost after your examination and scan, before any treatment begins.

Why do implant quotes differ so much between clinics?

+

Quotes often include different things. One may include the scan, abutment, crown and follow-up visits; another may not. Ask each clinic for a written list of what is included so you are comparing the same treatment.

Does a bone graft add to the cost?

+

Yes. A graft is an extra step with its own materials and sometimes extra healing time. Not everyone needs one: your scan shows whether there is enough bone to hold the implant.

Can I pay for implant treatment in stages?

+

Implant treatment is spread over a few months, and the full cost is explained in your treatment plan before anything begins. Ask us about the payment options available when you book.

Is an implant worth the extra cost over a bridge or denture?

+

It depends on your teeth, gums, health and budget. An implant does not need the neighbouring teeth to be shaped, and long-term studies show most implants last ten years or more. A bridge or partial denture costs less and avoids surgery. We explain each option that suits you.
